Can I vent for a second?

I’m a single mom, and I work hard to make sure my seven-year-old can have the same things in life that all the other kids can. I’ve been a journalist for several years now, and when I come home, I take up freelance work on the side to make things work. I do it all on my own, and I don’t take handouts.
